Why is your image important?

Image matters because people will often make assumptions about you based on limited information. People will tend to form the same kinds of opinions about you based on your appearance.

People are affected by your appearance whether or not they realize it, and whether or not they think appearance is important.

Many capable men and women are disqualified from job opportunities because they simply do not look the part.

A survey conducted in the '80's by Psychology Today found that the number of U.S. women dissatisfied with their appearance is 56%. This is more than double from a study in 1972 where 23% of women were dissatisfied with their overall appearance.

According to a recent Gallop poll, seven out of 10 Americans said physical appearance is important "in terms of happiness, social life, and the ability to get ahead."

Image is not just important for young people. The results of a Parade Magazine national survey of men and women aged 18 to 84 found 84% disagree with the statement, "When you become old, looks are no longer is important."
